Adjusting the Shutter Speed

In

B mode, the range is from a maximum of 1/4000 to 15 seconds.

In

D mode, the range is from a maximum of 1/4000 to 60 seconds.

Adjusting the Aperture Value

In

C and D modes, the range is from f/2 to 8 (wide-angle position) and from f/4 to

8 (telephoto zoom position).

Aperture Value (F-number) and Zoom

Large apertures (expressed by small f­numbers) let more light into the camera, and small apertures
(large f-numbers) let less light.
The aperture value of the zoom lens of this camera changes depending on the zoom position. When
zooming to the wide-angle position and telephoto zoom position, the aperture values are f/2 and
f/4, respectively.
When Fixed aperture (

A111) is set to On, zooming can be performed with minimum changes

in the aperture value.

Built-in ND Filter

When the subject is too bright, set Built-in ND filter in the shooting menu (

A70) to reduce the

light and shoot.

E, F or N (User settings) Mode

Even when the mode dial is set to

E, F or N (User settings) mode, you can shoot in A

(Programmed auto),

B (Shutter-priority auto), C (Aperture-priority auto) or D (Manual). The setting

combinations (User settings) that are frequently used for shooting can be saved in

E, F and N
