3 Using Pocket ViewPoint
This section provides the operational details on the command and control of PVP, with screenshots on the
various options.
3-1 Application Activation
PVP consists of the collection module (for CPU, Process metrics collection) and User Interface
module (to render HTML/Javascript). The Collector program’s (csvrapp and psvrapp) are processes
that run 24*7 and collect CPU and process information. The UI program is launched when a user
accesses PVP through the browser.

Starting
3-1-1-1 Server (NonStop)
The server services are started by obeying the strtpvp file present in the Pocket ViewPoint installation
subvolume (obey strtpvp). The strtpvp file starts up
Process Manager (PROCMAN) process which in turn spawns off the Listener (LISTAPP)
process
CPU Metrics collector (CSVRAPP) which in turn spawns off the Analyzer (CPROCAPP)
process
Process Metrics collector (PSVRAPP)
The following processes are nonstop (process pair): PROCMAN, LISTAPP, CSVRAPP,
PSVRAPP.
Stopping
The PVP processes can be stopped by obeying the STOPPVP file present in the installation
subvolume (OBEY STOPPVP).
3-2 Logon
All features of PVP require a logon. The Pocket ViewPoint interface is brought up by specifying the
fully qualified DNS/IP and Port in the address bar of the smartphone browser (e.g.:
).
Logon is the initial screen that opens with Pocket ViewPoint. It is where you set the
node to connect to, and logon. In this screen, there are two fields:
