This sub-item appears only when you set the
ATA/IDE Configuration item to
[Enhanced] and allows you to set the SATA configuration.
Configuration options: [IDE] [RAID] [AHCI]
• If you want to use the Serial ATA hard disk drives as Parallel ATA physical
storage devices, keep the default setting [IDE].
• When set to [IDE] mode, SATA port 1 will serve as Primary Master, SATA
port 3 will serve as Primary Slave, SATA port 2 will serve as Secondary
Master, and SATA port 4 will serve as Secondary Slave. SATA port 5 and 6
will be disabled.
• If you want the Serial ATA hard disk drives to use the Advanced Host
Controller Interface (AHCI), set this item to [AHCI]. The AHCI allows
the onboard storage driver to enable advanced Serial ATA features that
increases storage performance on random workloads by allowing the drive
to internally optimize the order of commands.
• If you want to create a RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, RAID 10, or the
Intel
®
Matrix Storage Technology configuration from the Serial ATA hard disk
drives, set this item to [RAID].
