SECTION 1: ORION ENDPOINT PROGRAMMED VARIABLES FOR
RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL GAS METERS
Programming the ORION® family of endpoints involves entering selected gas meter index variables into the endpoint
using the Trimble® Ranger handheld programmer or the ORION utility software The installer should be familiar with how
to determine the value of these variables, since errors in determining the values of the variables will lead to errors in
customer billing
The programmed variables include:
•
Style of endpoint: Integral or Remote
•
Value of meter drive or pulse value
•
Number of digits in consumption reading
•
Resolution of the right-most digit in consumption reading
•
Consumption reading
•
Fixed Pressure Factor
•
Direction of rotation of meter drive (ORION SE/ME only)
The following discusses each variable and how to determine its value
Step 1: Determine Style Of Endpoint: Integral (INT) or Remote (REM)
How the data is collected and transmitted by an ORION endpoint is dependent on the physical style of the endpoint There
are two physical styles of endpoints: Integral and Remote
The Integral endpoint is always installed between the meter index and the meter body, and therefore integral to the meter set
Remote endpoints always have a wired connection between the endpoint and an instrument such as a volume corrector or a
pulser, like a Gas RT The programming and operating software refers to an Integral endpoint as INT and a Remote endpoint
as REM
Integral endpoint examples include:
Residential gas meter with Integral endpoint
