SECTION 3: PROGRAMMING NOTES FOR DRESSER-ROOTS ROTARY
METER WITH EITHER DRESSER AMR ADAPTER AND ORION INTEGRAL
OR RIOTRONICS PULSER WITH REMOTE ORION ENDPOINT

Determine the Roots meter type:
- Model B3
- Model LMMA
•
Determine the odometer type:
- CTR (has a single odometer index, non-temperature compensated)
- TC (Temperature Compensated) has two odometers The upper odometer is the TC index; the lower index is the
non-compensated value
•
Determine if the Dresser/Roots AMR Adapter is being utilized or if the RIOTronics Pulser is installed on the meter
- The AMR Adapter allows the use of the Integral ORION endpoint
NOTE:

The ORION endpoint would not utilize an index being mounted on it, but rather relies on the index that is
part of the Roots meter
- The RIOTronics Pulser is installed on the index and provides a pulse through an external wire that is connected to
the Remote ORION endpoint

Looking at the meter’s index: Depending on the Roots meter model, certain digits will be exposed on the odometer,
while other digits may be concealed with an opaque mask The installer must determine the following variables to
program into the ORION endpoint: number of dials showing consumption reading, resolution of the consumption
reading and the actual consumption reading
Example 1: B3 Meter, Model 8C, CTR Version
Number of dials = 5
Resolution = 100 cubic feet
Consumption reading = 2576
AMR Adapter meter drive =10 cubic feet per revolution
Example 2: B3 Meter, Model 16M, CTR Version
Number of dials = 6
Resolution = 100 cubic feet
Consumption reading = 38498
AMR Adapter meter drive =100 cubic feet per revolution
