Please note that in many ways a LaserDisk player isn’t very bright. If you send it a command to do
something that is already done, it will return an error message. As an example, if you ask it to close the
door with a CLOSE DOOR command and the door is already closed, it will return an error message ‘E04
’ instead of the ‘R ’ you are expecting. This will cause the FSK/RTU to display an error message
on the Heads Up Display and stop sending the current string.
