TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Overview of Features
Improved Geometry
• The RADOS CheckPoint:Body™ family member TwoStep™-Gas II is designed with detectors shaped
around the body for personnel contamination and internal contamination screening at check points.
Radioactive or nuclear contamination detection is increased systematically by decreasing detector
dead zones in this contamination monitor.
New gasflow detector design
• Much improved overall detection probability due to homogeneous detection response over
the length of the monitor made possible by significantly reduced dead zones.
• Fast and easy foil change
• Automatic re-addressing of detectors after replacement
• Quick flushing of detectors with counting gas
State of the art hardware design
• New one-piece datacollector electronics connects detectors and standard industrial PC
• Touch screen user interface
• LED lighting inside the monitor
• choice of two monitor depths (800 mm or 1000 mm)
Designed for performance in nuclear environments
• Discriminates alpha, beta and optional gamma radiation with improved detection limits
• Radon compensation
• Stainless steel housing, easily decontaminated, easy maintenance
Customer Benefits
High throughput
• Software on the basis of the real-time QNX operating system proven in many generations
of RADOS monitors.
• Option: P
2
accelerator reduces measurement time up to 30 %
Low cost of operation and maintenance
• Less electronic parts than the RTM860TS
• Rigorous standardization of parts decreases need to hold a large variety of spares (e.g. detector size)
• Software maintenance tools proven over the CheckPoint:Body™ family of monitors
• Automatic address setting of the detector
• Changing foil on the detector made easy by simple detector design; allows fast in-the-field repair by
customer’s technician - resulting in lower maintenance costs
• Quicker flushing of the detectors with gas due to design of tubes and detector gas inlet nozzles
Ability to network
• Optional link up with CeMoSys™ server for centralised monitoring
References
The TwoStep™-Gas II monitor of the CheckPoint:Body™ family is the ideal monitor to control the
exit points from controlled areas in nuclear facilities with
• potential alpha and beta contamination (gamma as option)
• potential Radon background
• high throughput requirements
