GMP-12UW
External Under Water Gamma Probe
The GMP-12UW represents the new design of Mirion exter-
nal probes. The casing with 35 mm diameter enables the
probe recalibration with most common calibration units. This
external probe enhances the detection capability of RADOS
RDS-31 meter family. It has been designed to fulfi ll the most
demanding applications in nuclear industry, HLS & civil
defence and industrial use. The GMP-12UW probe is intended
for gamma and X-ray radiation. The measured quantity is the
H*(10) ambient dose equivalent, both accumulated dose and
rate are monitored.
GMP-12UW is used as an external detector with the RDS-31/
iTx/iTxSD multi-purpose Radiation Survey Meters especially
for high dose rate measuring applications, like in reactor
pools.
The GMP-12UW probe is equipped with an installed IKELITE 7
connector and separate cable.
For the connection to the mating bulk connector interface at
the bottom of RDS-31 family survey meters an external probe
cable is provided. The probe can be connected “on-the-fl y”
without the need for switching off the meter. The RDS-31
recognizes the probe connection and the user can select the
appropriate type from the suggestion list to set the meter
reading to desired measuring unit. The calibration coeffi
cient
for the GMP-12UW is delivered with the probe. The user can
download the coeffi
cient to the RDS-31 meter with the CSW-
31 confi guration software.
Whenever an external detector is connected to the RDS-31,
the meter performs continuous dose rate measurements with
internal detector, even if an external probe is connected to
the meter, to ensure the safety of the user.
