VICE INSTRUCTIONS
DISASSEMBLY AND REASSEMBLY PROCEDURES
The pr
ocedures outlined in this section cover the dismantling
and reassembly of two different types of Series HSCS pump
construction.
A. HSCS pump with packing
B. HSCS pump with mechanical seals.
Each procedure provides the step-by-step instructions for dis-
mantling and then reassembling the pump, depending upon
the type of shaft seal used.
When working on the pump, use accepted mechanical prac-
tices to avoid unnecessary damage to parts. Check clear-
ances and conditions of parts when pump is dismantled and
replace if necessary. Steps should usually be taken to restore
impeller and casing ring clearance when it exceeds three
times the original clearance.
If your pump has adjustable wear rings, please refer to the
instructions on page 26.
A. DISMANTLING

Prior to working on pump the power
source should be disconnected with lockout provi-
sions so power cannot be re-energized to the motor. Close
isolating suction and discharge valves. Failure to follow
these instructions could result in property damage, severe
personal injury, or death.
