body and you can rely on the adhesive to remain that way permanently.
6. The next steps will be the finishing touch for the installation. Peel the red release liner
from the small remaining section and line it up with the door section and then simply
press it in place onto the body. Trim the black vinyl to the top edges of the new panels.
Two of the lengths of chrome trim you have been provided with are 1/8 and two are ¼’’.
The ¼” trim is to be applied to the very top of the entire length of the new panels. Apply
a small bead of adhesive promoter using the pen type applicator provided along the top
edge of the new panels as well as the edge of the new panel below the door. . Peel a
small length of the red release liner from the back of the trim and then set that end.
Place the ¼” trim directly to the paint and nice and tight to the new panels. Run the trim
along the entire length as you pull the red liner as you set the trim. Using a straight razor
blade cut the gap at the front of the door location but not at the back of the door just
yet. Apply the 1/8” trim directly to the paint and tight to the lower section of the new
panel and work your way up to the rear of the door area in the same way. Allow the
trim to overlap the ¼” trim. Carefully cut the cross section of the trim so that you create
a nice mitered seam between the ¼” and 1/8” trim. Apply a small drop of instant
adhesive at this miter seam to permanently connect them. Lift the section of trim at the
lower corner of the large section and apply some instant adhesive at this area as well.
This will prevent the corner of the chrome trim from shrinking away from the corner
and make for a nice long lasting application. Peel the protective liner from the entire
rocker panel to finish the installation.
