4. Depending on the operating system and interface used, the system will detect a
new device and either find and load the proper driver or request a source (such
as the Windows 98SE CD) from which to install the driver from.
5. If installed properly, a new “Compact Disc” icon should appear in the “My
Computer” directory of a PC. You can also check the System Device Manager
to verify the device is properly installed. For the USB 1.1 interface cable, the
devices listed under Universal Serial Bus Controllers should include “USB
Mass Storage Device”.
6. Use of the SmartDup’s CD writer requires that CD burning software, such as
Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4, be installed.
a. Insert the CD burning software CD for installation in the bottom CD
writer on the SmartDup. Follow the instructions to install the software.
b. Remove the CD and reboot the computer system.
7. Verify that the CD burner program recognizes the SmartDup CD writer.
8. If recognized, you can now use the CD burner program to control the copying
of files from your computer to the CD writer on the SmartDup.
