Adding Storage to 2850 Servers (VOD 125/300W)
Use the following procedure to add storage to both VOD 125W and VOD 300W servers. The
procedure is the same for ES3 (1 TB) and ES4 (2 TB) devices. Note that the 2850 uses Basic
Disks.)
1. Power everything down.
2. ES3/ES4 setup.
a. Connect both power cords on ES3/4.
b. SCSI termination is internal; no terminator is necessary.
3. EtherneTV VOD-125W (VBrick VOD125 Dell 2850) setup.
a. Connect the SCSI cable from the ES3/4 to SCSI 0 port connector on the
EtherneTV VOD-125W; this is bottom left connector on the two port SCSI card (as
shown below). If you are connecting two external ES3/4 arrays, then connect the
SCSI cable from the second storage array to the SCSI 1 port connector on the
EtherneTV VOD-125W.
4. Power up the ES3/4.
5. Power up Dell Server (VOD-125W).
6. During Dell boot up:
a. Do not type
Ctrl-A
to enter the Adaptec SCSI BIOS.
b. Watch for message
PowerEdge RAID controller BIOS
then press
Ctrl-M
to go to RAID
controller configuration. It takes several minutes to enter the config utility.
