You can now select the destination for your new virtual machine.
Select a Virtual Appliance Source
You can convert a virtual appliance to a VMware Infrastructure virtual machine or a standalone virtual
machine, such as Workstation 6.x.
The data you can view on the Appliance details page depends on the OVF version of the source you selected.
Only OVF 1.0 sources can contain deployment configurations. If OVF 0.9 and OVF 1.0 source virtual appliances
do not contain deployment configurations, you can only view the virtual appliance details.
For OVF 1.0 sources that contain deployment configurations, you can also select the product configuration.
Selecting a different product configuration might affect the hardware settings and properties default values
of the target virtual machine created to run on a vCenter Server 4.0 or a Workstation destination.
Prerequisites
Converter Standalone supports, as sources, OVF 0.9 and OVF 1.0 virtual appliances that contain one virtual
machine. Virtual appliances that contain multiple virtual machines are not supported.
If you select an OVF 1.0 source and it contains at least one required product with properties, you can only
convert it to a vCenter Server 4.0 destination. ESX 4.0 is not supported as a destination for OVF 1.0 sources that
contain required products with properties. If the source OVF does not contain any required properties, you
can select an ESX 4.0 hosted destination as well.
Procedure
1
On the Specify Source page, select Virtual appliance from the Select source type drop-down menu.
