You can operate the z-connected Onkyo CD player, cassette
tape deck or DVD player with the remote controller provided with
the HT-R490.

Controlling an Onkyo CD player

The z connector of the Onkyo compact disc player must be
connected to the HT-R490 (refer to page 11).

1. Press the CD MODE button.

2. Press the STANDBY/ON button to turn on the

Onkyo compact disc player.

3. Press the desired operation button.

: Starts playback of CD.

e

: Stops playback, fast forward or fast reverse.

f

: Fast forwards the CD.

d

: Fast reverses the CD.

2/8 : Lets playback pause temporarily
w

: Skips to the beginning of the next track.

q

: Skips to the beginning of the current or previous

track.

DISC : This button is valid when the CD changer is used

and selects the disc to be played.

Controlling an Onkyo cassette tape deck

The z connector of the Onkyo cassette tape deck must be
connected to the HT-R490 (refer to page 11).

1. Press the TAPE MODE button.

2. Press the desired operation button.

: Plays side A (the side facing the front) of tape.

e

: Stops playback, recording, fast forward or rewinding.

f

: Fast forwards the tape.

d

: Rewinds the tape.

2/8 : Plays side B (the side facing the rear) of the tape.
w

: Fast forwards the tape till the beginning of the next

music.

q :

Rewinds the tape till the beginning of the current or
previous music.
