Using the FH-8G1 Medical Holder
The FH-8G1 is used when scanning 26 mm
×
76 mm glass microscope slides containing pre-
pared tissue samples. Up to three slides can be placed in the holder at a time. Slides must
conform to the following specifications:
Total thickness:
2 mm or less
Dimensions (slide):
width 26 mm, length 76 mm, thickness 0.8–1.5 mm
Dimensions (cover):
width 25 mm or less, length 60 mm or less, thickness 0.18 mm
or less
Insert the slides under the clips. Slides should be inserted between the guides, with the cover
facing upwards. Stop when the slide comes into contact with the base of the clips.
Clips
Cautions
Do not use force when inserting slides. Failure to observe this precaution could damage the clips
that hold the mounts in place. Should you encounter resistance, try inserting the slides at a slight
angle.
Be sure to insert slides between the guides. The scanner may not be able to adjust focus correctly
if slides are placed on top of the guides. Inserting the slides on top of the guides could also
damage the clips that hold the mounts in place.
Do not leave the slides in the holder for extended periods, as it may deform the clips that hold the
slide mounts in place.
Use a blower to remove dust and lint from the slides and holder. Leaving dust, lint, or other
foreign objects on the slides or holder during scanning could result in reduced image quality.
Do not use Digital ICE
3
when scanning microscope slides. When Digital ICE
3
is used, noise may
appear in the preview image or final scan.
The FH-8G1 can also be used to scan mounted 35-mm film. You should not, however, place
microscope slides and 35-mm slides in the holder at the same time.
