Getting Started
This chapter provides basic instructions for connecting the modem to a computer or a LAN and to the Internet using
DSL.
• Part 1 provides instructions to set up the hardware.
• Part 2 describes how to configure Internet properties on your computer.
It is assumed that you have already subscribed to DSL service with your telephone company or other Internet service
provider (ISP). These instructions provide a basic configuration that should be compatible with your home or small
office network setup. Refer to Chapter 4 for modem configuration instructions.

Connecting the Hardware
Shut down your PC before connecting the modem.
