Problem

I cannot make and receive
calls.

I cannot make calls.

The unit does not work.

The unit does not ring.

The unit displays the following
message though the paper is
inserted.

The other party complains
they only hear a fax tone and
cannot talk.

The speakerphone is not
working (KX-FP85 only).

The

button

does not function properly.

The receive mode does not
function as explained on pages
38 and 39.

During programming, I cannot
enter the code or ID number.

The ink film runs out quickly.

The unit beeps.

REDIAL/PAUSE

CHECK PAPER

The power cord or telephone line cord is not connected.
Check the connections (p. 14).

If you used a splitter to connect the unit, remove the
splitter and connect the unit to the wall jack directly. If the
unit operates properly, check the splitter.

The dialling mode setting is wrong. Change the setting of
feature #13 (p. 68)(KX-FP81AL/KX-FP85AL only).

Disconnect the unit from the telephone line and connect
the line to a known working telephone. If the working
telephone operates properly, contact our service personnel
to have the unit repaired. If the working telephone does
not operate properly, contact your telephone company.

The ringer volume is set to off. Adjust it (p. 19).

The TAD ring count of feature #06 is set to “RINGER OFF”.
Change to another ring count (p. 67)(KX-FP85 only).

The paper is inserted halfway. Insert it correctly (p. 13)
and press

to clear the message.

The FAX ONLY mode is set. Tell them the number is only
used for faxes or change to TEL, TEL/FAX or TAD/FAX
(KX-FP85 only) mode (p. 40, 41).

Use the speakerphone in a quiet room.

If you have difficulty hearing the other party, adjust the
volume using

or

.

If you and the other party speak at the same time, parts of
your conversation will be cut off. Speak alternately.

If this button is pressed during dialling, a pause will be
inserted. If pressed immediately after a dial tone is
obtained, the last number dialled will be redialled.

A Distinctive Ring pattern of feature #31 is set (p. 70).

The TEL/FAX mode is set (p. 46, 47).

All or part of the numbers are the same. Change the code or
ID number of features #11 (p. 68), #12 (p. 68), #41 (p. 70)
and #49 (p.71).

The HELP printing function, copy function, and reports
also use ink film.

Recording paper or ink film has run out. Press

to

stop the beeps and install paper/ink film.
