4. Click “Start” > “Program” > “KENWOOD” > “MCP-4A” to start MCP-4A.

5. Select the communication port.
Specify in the COM Port frame the communication port (COM Port) that will be used to
communicate via your computer with the target station. You cannot select grayed out ports. If all
ports are grayed out, this indicates your computer has no COM ports installed and you will not be
able to use the MCP-4A software even if you click the “OK” button.

6. Read the information of TH-D72A/E.
Read the desired information of TH-D72A/E that you wish to edit.
Click the “OK” button. Next, select “Read Data from the Transceiver” from the Program pulldown
menu and read the information from the target transceiver.
Note: The basic method of using MCP-4A is to read the existing transceiver data into MCP-4A, edit the configuration, and
then write the new configuration back to the transceiver.
