Recorder Function Explanation

Multi-screen display
For both live picture monitoring (during multiplex recording)
and playback of recorded pictures, the user can select from
16-screen display, 9-screen display, 4-screen display, and
full-screen display.
• 4-screen display • Full-screen display
• Screen position assignment • Monitor masking

Jog Shuttle (* Also used to select menu options.)
Jog dial
Simply by turning the Jog Dial with your finger to the left or
right, the monitored images can be made to run forward or
backwards for easy checking.

Shuttle ring
Simply by turning the Shuttle Ring to the left or right, you
can switch from playback to forward or reverse playback,
or forward or reverse search. From pause, you can switch
to forward or reverse slow-motion playback, normal speed
playback, or search. Operation of these functions is easy,
allowing very efficient searching.

Built-in Motion Sensor
DSR series comes with a built-in motion sensor. Different
settings can be made for each camera image
independently. The sensor can detect moving objects
within the screen by picking up changes in brightness. The
user can use this feature to trigger an alarm recording.

*Does not apply to DSR-M810PA

Mirror Recording
DSR series both come with two HDD bays*. With two
HDD's of the same capacity installed, it is possible to
record the same video on both of them, thus allowing for a
backup.

* Does not apply to DSR-300P and DSR-2004

Timer recording
Uniform daily programming or independent programming
for each day of the week are both available. Further,
holidays can be entered by specifying the date and the
month for which Sunday programming should be applied.

Alarm recording
When an alarm signal is received from an external sensor,
the Recorder will automatically start recording in a mode
predetermined by the user.

Alarm counter
This feature allows the user to keep and display records of
the date and time of alarms.

Legends

The DSR Series models use either JPEG2000, Motion
JPEG or MPEG format, each of which has its own
characteristics and advantages, so please select the DSR
Series model most suitable for your requirements.

The DSR series utilizes JPEG2000, M-JPEG, and MPEG video
compression methods to offer clear and sharp crispy video
recording. Simultaneous recording and playback is now
possible with elegantly smooth motion.

Each unit in the DSR series features a Network terminal*.
Monitoring live video, playing back and reviewing recordings,
starting a new recording, searching for recorded images,
camera control, camera setup --- all operations are possible
from a PC with a network connection (using Internet Explorer
version 5.0 or newer). It also enables the user to download
recorded video and audio on to the PC.

* DSR-300P requires communication board VZU-COM300.

A high compression rate is achieved
while eliminating block noise and
pixelation associated with the JPEG
format.

Motion pictures are produced by
successive decompression-
reproduction of frames recorded in
JPEG format. Compared to MPEG, the
compression rate is lower and the
picture quality is higher.

The DSR-M81x series adopts MPEG-2
format, the de facto standard for color
motion picture compression.

The MPEG-4 standard was designed to
reproduce a wide range of moving
pictures from those on a low speed
communication line to those with high-
definition TV picture quality.
