Transferring Data With PSC Utilities
72
PT2000™ & TopGun™
Overview
After scanning a series of bar codes or inputting other data into the
PT2000 or TopGun, use a data-transfer utility to upload the
information to the host computer.
Both the PT2000 and TopGun come with PSC’s Portable Applications
Library (PAL) on a disk. PAL includes two programs to transfer data
between the portable and a PC:
PTFER
Windows application. (Refer to
PDTFER
DOS program that runs by issuing commands on the DOS command
line. (Refer to
MACTFER
Macintosh program used to communicate via 8-pin DIN ADB (not
USB) with a Macintosh. (Refer to
.)
UPDTFER
UNIX program used to communicate with a UNIX workstation. (Refer
to
.)
After collecting data with the portable, use one of these programs to
transfer the data to an ASCII file on the PC.
Note:
To launch Windows applications, select menu options, use
dialog boxes, or refer to Microsoft Windows documentation.
Note:
PSC also provides two utilities MACTFER and UPDTFER
for transferring data to and from Macintosh or UNIX
workstations. These utilities are free from PSC for your
convenience, however their use is at your own risk, and not
supported by PSC Technical support. Go to the PSC website
at
> Support > Software Updates > PT2000/
TopGun
to download the most current transfer program.
