4. Before using for the first time
During manufacture, many parts are given a
thin film of protective oil. Before using the
appliance for the first time, heat it up without
any food so that any residues can
evaporate.
Note:
When heating up for the first few
times a slight smell may be produced. Make
sure the room is adequately ventilated.
1. Take the appliance and all the accessory
parts out of the packaging.
2. Check that the appliance shows no signs
of damage.
3. Remove any labels or stickers (but not
the type plate on the underside).
4. Clean the appliance before using it for
the first time. Observe the information in
the section entitled "6. Cleaning" on
page 36.
5. Select a location that is firm, level and
not flammable. Maintain a distance of
approx. 50 cm from other objects.
6. Move On/Off switch 6 to "0".
This switches the appliance off.
7. Plug the mains plug into a suitable mains
socket that corresponds to the technical
data.
8. Move On/Off switch 6 to "
".
The indicator in On/Off switch 6 now
comes on and the appliance heats up.
9. Leave the appliance switched on for
around 10 - 15 minutes.
10. Switch the appliance off again by
moving On/Off switch 6 to "0".
11. Take out the mains plug and allow the
appliance to cool down.
12. Clean the appliance again. Observe the
information in the section entitled
"6. Cleaning" on page 36.
5. Operation
5.1 Preparing the appliance,
switching on and off
1. Select a location which is firm, level and
not flammable. Maintain a distance of
approx. 50 cm from other objects.
2. Move On/Off switch 6 to "0".
This switches the appliance off.
3. Lightly grease raclette pans 1 on the
inside and grill cover 2 on the top. You
can repeat this if required.
Warning!
The hooks on grill
cover 2 are very sharp. Be
careful not to injure yourself on
them and use a pastry brush
slightly moistened with edible oil.
4. Pour a little stock into the edge of grill
cover 2 (see "5.4 Tips and hints" on
page 35).
5. Insert the mains plug into a suitable wall
socket which complies with the technical
data.
6. Move On/Off switch 6 to "
".
The indicator in On/Off switch 6 now
comes on and the appliance heats up.
