Performing a Bar Code Read Operation

Turn on the Data Collector, position the reader
port close to the bar code you want to read,
and then press the trigger key.

The reader port emits a laser to read the bar
code. The read indicator lights green when the
read is successful.
Important! • If you have problems with the read operation, change the angle between
the label and Data Collector, or move closer and then try again.
• If the bar code is larger than the diameter of the Data Collector’s reader
port, try moving the Data Collector a bit farther away from the bar code.
• The Data Collector should be able to read a bar code from the maximum
distance of 38 centimeters under the following conditions.
Ambient Light: 500 lux (fluorescent)
PCS: 0.9 min.
Minimum Bar Width: 1.2 mm
ITF (extended version)
• Wavelength: 670 nm
Maximum output: 1.0 mW
