Appendix C: LAN Bypass Function

The bypass function is used to link (or short) two independent Ethernet
ports when the system crash or powers off. This means if your system is

equipped with a LAN Bypass function, a condition in your system will not
interrupt your network traffic. There are typically two communication states
for the bypass function, one is “Normal” state and another is “Bypass” state.
Lanner provides three methods for enabling the LAN Bypass function.

1.

When the system powers off, it will be forced to enable the LAN Bypass
function directly from the BIOS menu.

2.

User can enable or disable the LAN Bypass function dynamically by
programming.

3.

A watchdog timer(WDT)can also be used to control the LAN Bypass
function by programming.

The LAN bypass can be turned on or off in two system states, i.e., power on

and power off. The following are the BIOS menu and illustration of the
possibilities of LAN bypass configuration in each state.
