ness supplied in the kit. Connect it to the batteries by connect-
ing the wire harness spades with the red coating to the positive
post and the white wire to the negative post of the battery.
2. Route the wire harness from one battery to the other and then
over to the SD control module. Place on the battery box cov-
ers.
3. Attach the battery wire harness to the mating molded plug of
the SD control module. Snap together to hold in place. Once
the wire harenss is connected move the battery boxes and ac-
tuator backwards on the frame equal distance until all slack
is removed from the battery wire harness. Tighten u-bolts to
secure to frame.
Brake Line Tubing Connection
1. Starting at the front of the trailer, carefully remove the frame
brake line tubing from the black plastic tubing that is mounted
in the side frame used for routing the wiring and the brake line
tubing. Remove the brake line tubing so there is sufficient tubing
to be routed from the black plastic tubing to the brake line port
as shown on Diagram D.
2. Carefully bend the tubing with smooth round curves making sure
that the line is not kinked as it is formed to its new location.
3. Thread the brass brake line elbow fitting into the actuaator port
where the brake line will be attached.
4. Remove the coupling from the end of the frame brake line used
to connect it to the tongue brake line tubing. Thread the frame
brake line fitting into the brass elbow just installed in the port of
the actuator shown in Diagram D. Tighten.
Side Marker Light Replacement On Aluminum Models Only
The front clearance lights that are on the over 6,000# GVWR alumi-
num trailer tongue have to be removed and replaced with the new
clearance lights provided in the kit. Replace as follows:
1. Remove the screws attaching the existing clearance lights to
the tongue. Disconnect the wires from the harness and remove
the lights.
2. Locate the two new replacement lights. They are identical ex-
cept for the plug on the end of the wire where it attaches to the
tongue wire harness. Place the wire in the center hole provided
that the existing light wire came out of the tongue. Pull the wire
harness on the lights backwards and out the hole in the top of
the tongue just behind where the two frames join each other.
Tape the ends to the outside of the tongue to hold in this position
until later instructed how to connect into the new harness.
3. Re-attach the new lights where the old ones were removed us-
ing the new mounting screws provided.
Wiring Instructions
Remove the old wire harness from the tongue by disconnecting it
from the frame harness at the rear of the tongue.
The new wire harness for the brake system is pre-wired with mating
plugs to simplify the connection process.
Place the wire harness into the front of the tongue so the large
•
round 7 prong plug remains out the front of the tongue.
Pull the wire harness into the tongue as follows:
•
Pull all of the wire ends with bullet plugs and mating plugs out
•
the hole in the top of the tongue. Pull the white wire with the
grounding ring out the hole also.
Locate the wire harness Part No. 5110488 supplied that has
•
a brown and yellow and a brown and green pair of wires only
molded together. This harness DOES NOT have the white
grounded wire molded with them.
Connect the single bullet ends of the brown, yellow and green
•
wires of this wire harness to the mating plugs of the new wire
harness.
Connect the brown wires from the side marker lights to the
•
mating plugs supplied on the new wire harness for the trailer
lights being installed.
Once attached, route the brown and yellow and brown and
•
green wires for the lights out of the rear of the tongue until the
wires are no longer exposed through the hole in the top of the
tongue.
Place the side marker light wires back down into the tongue.
•
Attach the white wire with the grounding ring to the trailer frame
•
or tongue with the ¼” self-drilling screw supplied. This is the
connecting ground wire for the trailer lights only.
The breakaway switch is already attached and wired into the
•
main wire harness. Locate the breakaway switch. Position it
so it is approximately 3” behind the coupler mounting bracket.
Mark the mounting hole location. Drill a 13/64” pilot hole in the
tongue. Insert the ¼” self-drilling screw provided and secure
in place.
Snap the mating plugs from the wire harness to the respective
•
mating plugs from both the SD control box and the actuator
according to the instructions provided with the electric over hy-
draulic kit. See the wiring schematic on page 20 of the manual
provided with the actuator. Make sure they are completely
snapped together and locked to assure a positive connection.
Mate the brown and yellow wires extending out the rear of the
•
tongue with the brown and yellow wires from the frame har-
ness. Plug together.
Mate the brown and green wires extending out the rear of the
•
tongue with the brown and green wires from the frame har-
ness. Plug together.
Fill the actuator with the appropriate brake fluid as specified in
•
the brake manual supplied. Bleed the system per their instruc-
tions.
Assembly is complete.

Installation Instructions for Steel Frame
Trailers with a GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight
Rating) Greater than 6,000 lb.
Actuator Coupler Installation
Removing the existing actuator from the tongue.
1. Unthread the tongue brake line fitting from the coupling that
attaches it to the frame brake line tubing.
2. Remove the mounting bolts that attach the actuator to the
tongue. Remove the actuator and tongue brake line. They will
no longer be used in the new installation.
3. Remove the safety chains from the tongue. The new safety
chains supplied in the kit will be installed.
4. Unplug the tongue wire harness from the frame harness using
the plug-in connectors.
It will not be used in the new installa-
tion.
IMPORTANT
Note: The bolts in the kit used to attach the coupler and safety
chains on all trailers are stainless steel. Also the U-bolts for
attaching the mounting brackets for the actuator and the bat-
tery boxes on the aluminum trailers are stainless steel. They
require that you use the appropriate size nuts with the nylon
inserts. It is also recommended that you use an anti-seize
