10. Subsequently, cure Dual Cement with light
(Astralis
®
) as thoroughly as possible for
40–60 seconds.
Note on oxygen inhibition
As all composites, Dual Cement is affected by
oxygen inhibition, i.e. the surface layer (approx.
50 µm), which comes in contact with oxygen during
polymerization, does not cure. This problem can be
solved in two ways:
1)
Leave minimum Dual Cement excess. In this
way, only the excess material is affected by
oxygen inhibition. This excess is easily removed
during finishing of the margins.
2) Cover the restoration margins with Liquid Strip
after having removed the excess material, but
before polymerization. This will prevent oxygen
inhibition.
11. Finishing and polishing
Remove excess material and finish the
restoration with finishing diamonds, flexible
disks, and suitable silicone rubber polishers
(Politip P, Politip F). Check the occlusion.
Warning
Contact of Dual Cement with skin/mucous membrane
or eyes should be avoided. Uncured Dual Cement
may have a slight irritant effect and may lead to a
sensitization against methacrylates.
Storage and shelf life
–
Do not use Dual Cement after the indicated
date of expiration.
–
Storage in the refrigerator is required for the
catalyst paste (2–8 °C / 36–46 °F).
–
Note: Close syringes immediately after use.
Exposure to light causes premature
polymerization.
–
Shelf life: see date of expiration
Store out of the reach of children.
