Base/Extended/Total Memory

This category is display-only. The contents are determined by the POST (Power-On Self-Test) of the BIOS.

You cannot make changes to these fields.

Base Memory: Also c alled conventional memory. The DOS operating system and conventional applica-

tions use this area.

Extended Memory: The P OST of the BIOS will determine the amount of ext ended memory installed in

the system.

Total Memory: This option shows sy stem memory capacity.

After you have made your selections in the Standard CMOS Setup screen, press <ESC> to go back to the

main screen.

4.8 Advanced BIOS Features

Select ing Advanced BIOS Feature on the main program screen displays this menu, which allows you to

define advanced information about your sys tem. You can make modifications to mos t of these items to

improve your system performance or set up system features according to your preference, without causing

fatal errors to your system.

The following explains the options for each feature:

Virus Warning

Allow you to choose the Virus Warning feature for IDE Hard Disk boot sector prot ection. If this function is

enabled and someone attempts to write data into this area, BIOS will show a warning message on screen

and an alarm will beep.
