ensuring that the battery is fully charged prior to use. Indication of low battery status could be
the zero reading drifting or the readings becoming erratic.
The battery pack maybe damaged if the instrument is not switched off after the batteries
have been discharged.
Batteries are supplied in a discharged state
In order to obtain maximum capacity from the ni-cad battery several charge and discharge
cycles will have to be carried out.
If the instrument is not used for approximately one week, the batteries will be in a
discharged state.
Do not plug in the battery charger without the battery being present.
The battery module is an encapsulated unit located inside the inner enclosure and forms an
integral part of the instrument.
4.7. Display.
The display is a 3 1/2 digit L.C.D. with the readings updated every second. The position of the
decimal point indicates the working range. If the display is over ranging. the reading will be 1
with the following digits blank.
4.8. Range
Switch.
This is a 2 position latching press button switch (fig.2) allowing 2 ranges of density to be
measured and displayed 0.01-20mg/m3 and 0.01-200mg/m3. When the ranges are chosen the
indication is given by the decimal point on the display namely
0.200 = 000.0 for 0 -.200 version
0.20 =00.00 for 0 -200 version
4.9.
Time Constant.
This is a 2 position press button switch (fig.2) which allows the display of two time averaging of
aerosol readings (1 second and 10 seconds).
