ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

Tools Required for Assembly

(1) Soft Hammer or Mallet
(2) 9/16" Wrenches*
(2) 1/2" Wrenches*
(1) 7/16" Wrench*
(1) Adjustable Wrench
(1) Screwdriver
(1) Pliers
(1) Knife

(1) Cutters
*Adjustable Wrenches may be used.

IMPORTANT: This unit has been shipped without
gasoline or oil in the engine. Be certain to service
engine with gasoline and oil before operating your
log splitter. Refer to the separate engine manual.

UNPACKING

WARNING: Exercise extreme caution as

parts are very heavy. Mechanical handling

equipment should be used, or sufficient

people to prevent injury.

Remove the log splitter from shipping crate as follows:

1. Using a pry bar or claw hammer, pry the top, sides

and ends of crate off the shipping pallet. Use care
to avoid injury from protruding nails or staples.

2. To avoid personal injury or tire punctures, move

panels away from work area and check shipping
pallet for protruding nails or staples.

3. Remove and discard plastic bag that covers unit.

4. Referring to figure 1, confirm that all of the follow­

ing parts are present:

• Reservoir Tank Assembly (Banded to shipping

pallet).

• Engine and Pump Assembly (Bolted to pal­

let)—Connected to Wedge, Beam and Cylinder
Assembly by the Pressure Hose.

• Wedge, Beam and Cylinder Assembly (Banded

to pallet).

• Tongue Assembly (Inside Beam Assembly).

• Wheels.

• Fenders (Not Shown).

• Carboard Carton Containing:

-|-Hitch Assembly

-t-Beam Support/Latch Bracket

—Cradle Support Brackets (Model 523 Only)

—Log Cradles (Model 523 Only)

—Small Box containing Taillight Kit (Model 523

Only)

—Plastic Hardware Bag containing: 4 bolts,

washers and nuts for mounting engine; 2 hub
caps; and 16 carriage bolts and flange lock

nuts for mounting log cradles (Model 523
Only).

5. Remove all loose parts, unbolt the engine assem­

bly, and cut the bands securing the reservoir tank
assembly and the beam assembly.

6. Most of the hardware for assembly of the log

splitter has been placed in position on the various
parts.
