FAQ
What is looping?
The
most
basic
of
audio
loopers
on
the
market
allow
recording
a
phrase
of
audio,
instantly
and
indefinitely
playing
the
recording
back
in
a
loop,
while
at
any
time
allowing
new
audio
to
be
layered
over
top.
VoiceJam
offers
this
and
much
more.
How long can loops be?
Your
device
(and
hence
VoiceJam)
has
a
finite
amount
of
memory
to
record
your
loops.
Y ou
get
6
instant
access
loops
each
with
60
seconds
of
uncompressed
hi-‐fidelity
loop
time
–
in
the
real
world
this
ends
up
being
plenty
for
most
purposes.
What is Beat Boxing?
The
art
of
using
your
voice
box,
lips,
tongue
and
other
parts
of
your
body
in
creative
ways
for
the
purpose
of
mimicking
rhythmic
instruments
(drums,
cymbals,
shakers,
etc.)
What is a Bar of Music?
Western
music
usually
relies
on
a
repeating
4
beat
rhythm.
For
example:
|
Kick
|
Snare
|
Kick-‐Kick
|
Snare
|.
A
bar
in
this
type
of
music
is
always
4
beats.
Some
western
music
is
based
on
a
3
beat
repeating
rhythm.
For
example
the
“waltz”:
|
Kick
|
Snare
|
Snare
|.
A
bar
in
a
waltz
has
3
beats.
Most
western
songs
are
made
of
several
(hundreds
of)
bars,
each
with
the
same
number
of
beats.
Each
time
your
loop
repeats
it’s
like
the
passing
one
or
more
bars
of
music.
What is Additive Recording / Layering / Overdubbing?
Layering
is
recording
over
an
existing
recording
while
mixing
the
old
and
new
together.
The
old
audio
is
normally
mixed
with
the
new
at
a
slightly
lower
level
so
that
over
time,
the
oldest
loop
audio
will
gradually
fade
away.
This
fade
amount
can
be
controlled
using
the
performance
fly-‐out
icon
(wrench)
and
adjusting
Overdub
Fadeout.
Starting
a
new
layer
is
often
called
“punching
in”,
while
disabling
layer
recording
is
often
called
“punching
out”.
What is a Loop Point
The
moment
in
time
a
recorded
loop
jumps
back
to
the
beginning
and
seamlessly
starts
again.
The
time
from
the
beginning
of
the
recording
to
the
loop
point
defines
the
length
of
the
loop.
What is performance recording?
While
you’re
looping
and
creating
brilliant
on-‐the-‐fly
music,
VoiceJam
can
also
be
set
to
record
the
entire
performance
to
an
audio
file
on
your
device.
This
audio
file
can
be
uploaded
to
Sound
Cloud,
a
3rd
party
social
music
sharing
network
(visit
www.soundcloud.com
for
more
info).
The
lengths
of
your
recorded
performances
are
limited
only
by
the
available
storage
space
on
your
device.
