a. check condition of magazine tube
b. check free movement of magazine follower and spring
c. insert magazine into pistol – verify smooth insertion and clean engagement.
d. depress magazine catch – ensure smooth release
6. inspect the pistol exterior
a. inspect the general condition of the pistol
b. check the sights, frame, slide, slide stop for damage
c. Verify the front & rear sights are secure
