POWER FAILURE
As soon as a power failure occurs, the complete set will be switched off.
flashing As soon as the power supply returns, the numbers on the display will start to flash.
This indicates that you must set the correct time on the clock.
You can insert a 9 volt battery (6F22) in the set. Should there be a power failure,

the clock will continue to function. You will not see this, however, because the
battery does not illuminate the clock display. As soon as the power is switched on
again, the display will indicate the correct time.
For the sake of clarity; Alarm, radio, cassette recorder and display do network
on battery.
• Before inserting the battery, insert the plug into the wall socket.
• Place the battery in the compartment on the underside of the set (see
diagram).
recommendation Replace the battery once a year, it is not possible to say precisely how long the
battery will last. The service life depends on how often and for how long the power
supply fails. This varies according to country and region.
MAINTENANCE
— If you do not intend to use the set for a long time, it is better to remove the plug
from the wall socket, it is also advisable to remove the battery from the set.
This will prevent any danger of leakage and the clock radio will not be damaged.
— Fingerprints, dust and dirt on the set should be removed using a clean and
damp soft cloth or chamois leather. When cleaning do not use any products
which contain abrasive agents or solvents (benzine, thinner, alcohol etc.).
These might affect the housing.
— Rain, damp and extreme heat may damage the set. For this reason it should
not be placed in direct sunlight or close to heating elements for any period of
time.
— Clean the parts of the cassette recorder indicated in fig.3 after every 50 hours
of operation or, on average, once a month.
• Open the cassette holder by pressing ■ STOP.EJECT.
• Use a cotton bud slightly moistened with alcohol or a special head cleaning
fluid.
• Press ► PLAY and clean the rubber pressure roller (
d
) (fig.3).
• Then press li PAUSE and clean the capstan ©, recording/playback head
® and erase head ®.
• After cleaning, press ■ STOP.EJECT.
Cleaning of the heads ® and @ can also be done by playing the cleaning
cassette SBC 114 through once as an ordinary cassette.
