TRANSMITTING
When the unit is shipped Irom the factory, the transmitter
power is set for 1 Watt (Factory defauit). Thus, at initiai
Power ON the LOW indicator wiii appear on the LCD
Display, indicating 1 Watt Power.
To switch to the High (5 W atts) position. Press the Hl/LOW
switch. The LOW indicator wiii disappear on the LCD
Display, indicating 5 Watt output power.
To switch badi to LOW power, press the Hl/LOW switch
again. The LOW indicator appears on the LCD. The LOW
position should always be used for tn-port or short range
communications oniy.
On Power OFF, the change is kept in memory.
Before you transmit, listen for activity on the seiected
channei.
When the channel is dear, press the PTT Switch to
transmit. The TX LED comes on when you transmit. Hoid
the radio with the microphone approximateiy two inches in
front of your mouth with the antenna at approximateiy a 45-
degree angle away from your head. Speak in a ciear,
normai, conversational voice.
When you are through speaking, release the PTT Switch
and listen tor an answer.
