II. Preparation before threading

Thread tree

Raise the telescoping thread tree to its highest position.
Make sure that the thread holders are in alignment above

the spool pins as illustrated left.

The procedure for placing the spool of thread on the spool pin differs according to the shape of the spool.

If you are sewing with loosely

spun nylon thread, we recom­
mend that you cover the spool
with the net supplied to prevent
the thread from slipping off the
spool.
Adapt the net to the shape of the
spool.

(1)Turn off the main power switch for safety.

(2) Set the needle bar in its highest position by turning the

handwheel toward you.
Turn the handwheel to find the easiest position for

threading.

Pass the thread through the proper thread

guide.
Slide and hold the thread tension release
button to the right, then pass the thread through
the tension disc which is in the channel next to
the tension adjustment dial. Release the but­
ton.

CAUTION

Always be sure to turn off the power before
carrying out the following operation.

(1) Follow the procedure described below to thread the needle.

Threading the left needle

Run the thread in the sequence illustrated, following

the yellow color and the numbers next to each thread­

Threading the center needle

Run the thread in the sequence illustrated, following

the pink color and the numbers next to each threading

point.

Threading the right needle

Run the thread in the sequence illustrated, following

the green color and the numbers next to each thread­

CAUTION

When needle threading, always thread in this order:

Left needle, center needle and then right needle.

©Pull about 6 cm (about 2-1/2 inches) of thread

through the eye of the needle.
