CUTTING DECK AND LIFT SHAFT
19
Leveling the deck
For the best quality cut, the deck must be level side to
side and the front of the deck should be 1/4” - 3/8”
lower than the rear of the deck.
Side to Side Leveling
1.
With the mower parked on a firm, level surface,
move the deck to the mid height position using
the deck lift lever. Rotate one blade so that it is
perpendicular with the mower frame.
2.
Measure the distance from the blade tip to the
ground.
3.
Repeat steps 1 and 2 on the other side
4.
Both measurements taken should be equal. If
they are not, note whether the left side of the
deck is lower or higher and proceed to the next
step.
NOTE: Use of Cub Cadet deck leveling gauge,
part number 490-900-0041, will make measuring
the blade tip height easier. See Figure 4.27.
5.
There are no adjustments for leveling the deck
on this mower. Minor adjustments to level the
deck can be made by altering the air pressure in
the tires. If the adjustment requires more than a
5psi difference between tires, something on the
mower is bent.
