4) Turn on main power switch and select either Krebs Units (KU) or gram (gm) display. Be sure
that the Hold Reading switch is in the up position (refer to Figure 6).
5) Allow ten minutes for the instrument to warm up before proceeding.
6) Move the operating handle down to the lowest position (immersing the paddle spindle into the
sample). The fluid should be close to the immersion groove on the paddle shaft. The paddle
spindle will start rotating when it is within about 1/2 inch of the lowest position.
7) Wait 5 seconds for the display reading to stabilize.
8) Press the Hold Reading switch down to “hold” the display (Figure 7), and use the display
selector knob to display KU or gm units.
9) Raise the operating handle to the top position, and let the sample drain off the paddle spindle
10) Loosen the thumb screw and remove the paddle spindle for cleaning.
