Input Configuration

Input Source

Three radio buttons select the input source for video and audio. These are:

CVBS (composite video using XLR audio inputs)

SDI (Serial Digital with using XLR audio inputs)

SDI (Serial Digital with embedded audio)

The XLR audio inputs can be either two stereo pairs (4 channels) of AES/EBU digital audio or a
stereo pair of +4 dBu analog inputs, as determined by jumpers on the audio card.

Regardless of the input selected, audio will always appear in parallel both in the embedded audio
SDI stream and at the XLR outputs. Broadcast Time Delay supports Group 1 embedded audio,
which includes Audio Channels 1-4, 20-bit, 48 KHz, synchronous audio, as per SMPTE 272A.

Note that when Embedded Audio is selected as the input, if Genlock is also used the video input
must be synchronous with the genlock signal. It is recommended that when using Embedded
Audio, use the input as the source of system timing by leaving the Genlock input unconnected.
Using an uncorrelated SDI signal and Genlock will result in noise in the Embedded Audio output.

Audio Sample Rate Conversion

Two check-boxes are provided to engage built-in sample rate converters for either (or both) of audio
channels 1 & 2, and 3 & 4. When checked, the time delay converts incoming AES/EBU audio tracks
to a 48 KHz broadcast standard synchronized with video genlock. Audio sample rate conversion
boxes will be grayed-out if the SDI/ Embedded audio check-box is selected, or the XLR audio inputs
are jumpered for analog audio.

When using Genlock and an input that is not synchronized to that same Genlock signal, enable the
sample rate conversion even if your AES audio source is 48 KHz.

Video Format

This selection is used to select NTSC or PAL operation. When this setting is changed, you will be
prompted to restart the system.
