TAMA Omni-Tune Lug User Manual
Omni-tune lug instruction manual
The mechanism of the Omni-tune lug is more complex than that of a standard lug and requires careful treatment. If you drop the drum or put unnecessary pressure
on the lugs, a lug may be deformed or broken. To maintain the lug in top working condition, clean it regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and lubricate the screw with
Tama Tune-Up Oil (TOL2).
The Omni-tune Lug is very unique as it allows you to tune both the top head and bottom head from the batter side. The Omni-tune uses the patented lug system
invented in 1930 by drum designer William David Gladstone. Tama has taken the Omni-tune Lug, given it a modern design, and applied it to the entire Starclassic
Bubinga Omni-tune series, including the bass drums. Until now, making fine adjustments of bottom heads was a time-consuming process. With the Omni-Tune
system, you can make tuning adjustments from your throne and concentrate better on getting the right sound.
You will need the special Omni-tune drum key (OTK10) for tuning.

Tension Bolt A’ (For Bottom head)
Turn the Tension Bolt A’ CLOCKWISE with the Hex Head
Key to tighten the BOTTOM head.
•
When you change the batter side head, top/bottom tension bolt friction may make it difficult to remove the tension bolt. In this case, please loosen (turn
clockwise) the Square Head Bolt A slightly, then pull the tension bolt.
•
All Starclassic Bubinga Omni-tune individual bass drums and individual snare drums include an Omni-tune key holder to keep the special tuning key from being lost. The
Omni-tune Key Holder consists of two L-shaped Plates as shown in the figure, and is designed so that the two L-shaped Plates slide vertically to hook the Hoop when the two
Square Head Bolts are screwed in. Please attach it to a place on the Hoop where it will not get in the way while you play, then put the Omni-tune key in its holder as in photo.
•
The bass drum includes an Omni-tune key holder, but the holder can’t be attached to the wood hoops of the bass drum. Most players seem to prefer placing
this Omni-tune key holder on the floor tom. Please note that the key holder cannot be mounted on wood or bell brass hoops for snare drums or toms.
•
Tighten the Square Head Bolts evenly just enough to secure the key holder while you play. Excessive tightening can break the key holder plates.
