5.0 CANBus Module Placement/System Wiring
Your CANBus system modules are all interconnected by means of Two Wires
- CANH (CAN High) and CANL (CAN Low) - plus the addition of a common shield wire. It is
Important to the operation of your CANBus system that the recommended module placement
and system wiring be followed very closely. Improperly placed/wired CANBus modules may
result in an inoperable system. It is important to carefully map out how you will route the
CANH and CANL signals from module to module so as not to compromise the signal
integrity because this information makes its way from one point to another on
your application.
Different Types of Modules
As received, the CANBus modules you have been supplied with
have been configured to be wired in a specific order based on your
application.
There are two types of modules your system could possibly use.
Full Termination : This is a CANBus module that has been
placed at the start or at the end of a BUS line
Stub Termination : This is a CANBus module that has been
placed in between the modules with full termination.
