Problem
Cause/solution
1 cannot set the alarm.
• In order to set the alarm, you must first set the date
and time (page 14).
• The handset has lost communication with the base
unit. Move closer to the base unit, and try again.
While programming, the
handset starts to ring.
• A call is being received. Answer the call and start
again after hanging up.
Battery recharge

• Clean the charge contacts and charge again (page

• The battery may need to be replaced with a new one

• Confirm that the battery is properly installed.

is displayed.
• The battery is empty. The charge indicator does not
light in order to concentrate on charging. After about 5
minutes, the charge indicator lights and

is displayed.

Interference from other

• Move the handset and base unit away from other
electrical appliances.
• Move closer to the base unit.
• Turn on the clarity booster feature (page 18).
• If your unit is connected to a telephone line with DSL
service, we recommend connecting a noise filter
between the base unit and the telephone line jack.
Contact your DSL provider for details.
The handset and base
unit do not ring.
• The ringer volume is turned off. Adjust it (page 16,
28).
1 cannot make a call.
• The dialing mode may be set incorrectly. Change the
setting (page 14).
• The base unit or another handset is in use. Try again
later.
1 cannot have a
conversation using the
headset.
• Make sure that an optional headset is connected
properly (page 42).
• If
“sp-phone” is
displayed on the handset, press
[•>] to switch to the headset.
