2.2.3 MANUAL INSTALLATION

The manual installation allows more flexibility in selection of the directory name, and
allows a hands-on control of the file transfer. The user must create a directory with the
name and location of choice and copy all files (except for the install.exe file) from the CD
to the directory.

2.3 FIRST TIME OPERATION

The first time that the KPA 900 software is run, it analyzes the computer to determine the
parallel port characteristics. When the communication between the PC and the KPA 900
is successfully established, an .ini file is created and the applicable data is kept. This
action may require up to a minute to complete for some computers. Each time the
program is run after it is installed, it reads the .ini file and skips the analysis to speed up
the KPA 900 set-up time. If the computer hardware is modified or the KPA 900 files are
copied to another computer, the .ini file must be deleted. This file is located in the same
directory as the installed files and is named KPA900.ini.
