user is given an option to overwrite the waypoint name. Pressing

F at

any time will cancel the save operation and the page will revert to the
page which was displayed before the SAVE page. If there are already
250 user waypoints when the

E button is pressed with an unique SUP

ident, the scratchpad message "USR DB FULL" will be generated.

When the SUP page appears on the right hand side, entering a reference
identifier in the reference field will cause the radial and distance from that
reference waypoint to be computed and displayed. The reference, radial,
and distance data is lost when this page is left. When a new waypoint is
first displayed, the reference identifier will be filled in with the nearest non-
terminal VOR to the waypoint.

The

M button will operate normally and revert back to SAVE page after

messages are viewed. Pressing the

D button, A button, the right

cursor button and

N button cancels the save operation, and the button

will have its normal effect. If the SAVE button is pressed and so the
SAVE page is shown and the

S button is again pressed, operation

returns to the previous active page.

10.2 Creating A Waypoint As A Radial And Distance From Another
Waypoint
The second method of creating a user-defined waypoint is to define the
waypoint’s position in terms of a radial and distance from any other
existing waypoint. To create a waypoint in this manner:

• Follow the steps presented in section 10.0 to enter a waypoint identifier.

• Rotate the right outer knob to position the cursor over USER POS? and

press

E. A user waypoint page will appear with the identifier at the top

of the page and the cursor over a dashed latitude field.

• Turn the right outer knob counterclockwise to position the cursor over

the dashes to the right of REF. The next step will be to enter the identi-
fier of an existing waypoint into this field.

• Rotate the right inner knob to select the first character of the “reference

waypoint”.

• Use the right outer knob to position the cursor and the right inner knob to

select the characters so that the entire identifier for the reference way-
point is displayed.

• Press

E to see the waypoint page for the reference waypoint just

entered.
