Output that Speaks Volumes
The imageRUNNER 85’s extensive finish-
ing capabilities are what really set it apart
from its competitors in the printer market.
Three optional finishers are available, all
of which are designed to enhance pro-
ductivity and limit the number of steps
required to complete print jobs.
The imageRUNNER 85’s optional Finisher-
K1N and Finisher-K2N offer two trays to
manage output from statement to 11” x
17.” Up to 3,000 sheets can be accommo-
dated, enough to effectively handle even
the longest print runs. Additionally, both
finishers can staple up to 100 sheets in
any corner of the page, or place two sta-
ples in either the left- or right-hand mar-
gin. The Finisher-K2N also offers hole-
punching in addition to stapling. Output
can be automatically two- or three-hole
punched, depending on paper size and
orientation.
For more extensive finishing require-
ments, the Saddle Finisher-K3N is another
available option. Like the Finisher-K1N
and Finisher-K2N, the Saddle Finisher-
K3N holds a maximum of 3,000 sheets in
two trays. It offers 100-sheet single- and
double-position stapling, two- and three-
hole punching, as well as saddle-stitched
booklet-making as standard. The Saddle
Finisher-K3N can also be equipped with
the optional Document Insertion Unit-B1,
Paper Folding Unit-C1, and Booklet
Trimmer-A1.
The Document Insertion Unit-
B1 allows preprinted stock to be merged
with finished documents post-process.
The Paper Folding Unit-C1 z-folds 11” x 17”
documents so that they fit neatly within
letter-sized output. And the Booklet
Trimmer-A1 cleans up finished edges of
saddle-stitched output.
Connectivity Without Complications
The imageRUNNER 85 offers two ways to
connect to the network—the Canon-
designed Network Multi-PDL Printer
Kit-B3 and the imagePASS-M1 Print
Controller, jointly developed by Canon
and Electronics For Imaging (EFI™). Both
solutions enable 600 x 2400 dpi interpo-
lated print resolution, and allow users to
program imageRUNNER 85 system capa-
bilities right from their desktops.
Canon’s Network Multi-PDL Printer Kit-B3
leverages the standard 250MHz processor
built into each imageRUNNER 85 model.
Using this Canon-customized processor,
the Network Multi-PDL Printer Kit-B3 is
best suited for text-intensive, everyday
printing needs where PCL page descrip-
tion language makes up the bulk of jobs
that are sent to the printer.

Point-and-click Operation
One of the reasons why Canon is the
leading provider of network-connected
systems in the market today is because of
its intuitive printer driver software.
imageRUNNER 85 users will find that
Canon’s graphical printer driver software
is extremely easy to use, even if they have
no prior experience using a network con-
nected device. Through the printer driver
software, users have immediate access to
