4-zone automatic climate control
Front defroster
You can use this setting to defrost the
windshield, for example if it is iced up.
You can also defog the windshield and the
side windows.
Activating
̈ Press button y ( ୴ page 190) or
( ୴ page 191).
The indicator lamp on the button
comes on. Display
4 ( ୴ page 190) or
( ୴ page 191) is cleared.
The climate control switches automatically
to the following functions:
ț cooling on to dehumidify
ț most efficient blower speed and
heating power, depending on out-
side temperature
ț air flows onto the windshield and
the front side windows
ț the air recirculation mode is
switched off
Deactivating
̈ Press button y ( ୴ page 190) or
( ୴ page 191) again.
The indicator lamp on the button goes
out. Defrosting is turned off.
The previous settings are once again in
effect.
Windshield fogged on the outside
̈ Switch windshield wipers on
(
୴ page 56).
̈ Press button U ( ୴ page 190) or
( ୴ page 191).
If the automatic mode of the climate con-
trol is switched off:
̈ Turn air distribution control 1 and 7
to a or Y ( ୴ page 190) or
( ୴ page 191).
i Keep this setting selected only until the
windshield or the side windows are clear again.
i You can adjust the air volume, air distribu-
tion and the temperature when the front defrost-
er is switched on.
i To switch the front defroster off, you can
also press button U or ´ ( ୴ page 190) or
( ୴ page 191).
i The cooling remains switched on.
i Keep this setting selected only until the
windshield is clear again.
