The

distance

scale

indicates

the

distance

between

the

focused

subject

and

the

film.

It is not necessary to check the scale for normal photography ; however, it is neces

sary

for

infrared

photography,

which

explained

later

on,

and

for

determining

depth-of-field.

gives

you

the

exact

position

the

film

plane

your

camera.
