Red-eye Reduction Function
With flash photography in dark places, the subject's eyes
may appear red This phenomenon is called “red-eye" and
occurs when flash illumination refiects off the retina
In red-eye reduction mode <®>AUTO , the red-eye reduction
lamp lights for about 1 second before the flash is fired This
causes the pupils of the subject’s eyes to contract and
minimizes the likelihood of red-eye occurring
The efficacy of the red-eye reduction function varies from
person to person

• When the red-eye reduction lamp is lit, shutter
release is delayed by about 1 second to increase
the effectiveness of the red-eye reduction
