When I dick an application icon a message appears, such as "You must insert
the application CD into your CD-ROM drive", and the software does not start
_i Some titles require specific files that are located on the application's
CD-ROM disc. Insert the disc and try starting the program again.
_J Make sure you place the disc in the tray with the label side facing up.
My floppy disk drive cannot write to a diskette
□ The diskette is write-protected. Disable the write-protect feature or
use a diskette that is not write-protected.
J Check that the diskette is properly inserted into the floppy disk drive.
My speakers have no sound
J The built-in speakers are turned off. Press Fn+F3 to turn on the
speakers.
J The speaker volume is turned to the minimum. Press Fn+F4, and then
press t or -» to increase the volume.
J If your computer is powered by batteries, check that the battery packs
are inserted properly and that they are charged.
J If you are using an application that has its own volume control, check
that the volume is turned up,
J Check the volume controls in Windows 98.
J If you connect external speakers, check that the speakers are properly
connected and the volume is turned up. If the speakers have a mute
button, make sure it is off. If the speakers are powered by batteries,
check that the batteries are inserted properly and that they are
charged.
J If you have connected a headphone or an audio cable to the
Headphone connector, disconnect the cable.
J If the CD-ROM drive is in the docking station's drive bay, you cannot
hear sound from your computer's built-in speakers.
When I press Fn+F3, I see the message "Sound Disabled"
Click the System icon in the Control Panel. Change the settings under
Device Manager so that sound is enabled.
My modem doesn't work
J Check that the phone line is plugged into the line jack. See
"Connecting a Phone Line" on page 50 for details.
J Check that the phone line is working. You can check the line by
plugging in an ordinary phone and listening for a dial tone.
