The image on the viewfinder
screen is not clear.
• The viewfinder lens is not adjusted.
-> Adjust the viewfinder lens. (p. 12)
A vertical band appears when
a subject such as lights or a
candle flame is shot against a
dark background.
• The contrast between the subject and background is too
high. The camcorder is not malfunctioning.
Change locations.
A vertical band appears when
shooting a very bright subject.
• The camcorder is not malfunctioning.
The playback picture is not
clear.
• EDIT is set to ON in the menu system.
Set it to OFF. (p. 26)
The picture is "noisy".
• The video heads may be dirty.
Clean the heads using the Sony V8-25CLH cleaning
cassette (not supplied), (p. 53)
The picture does not appear
in the viewfinder.
• If VF PW-SAVE is set to ON, the picture disappears
automatically when you turn your face away from the
viewfinder.
Bring your face close to the viewfinder within 1 /2 inch
(1 cm). Or set VF PW-SAVE to OEF. (p. 25)
The picture in the viewfinder
does not disappear even if VF
PW-SAVE is set to ON.
• Sunlight or an incandescent lamp may prevent the
viewfinder sensor from working correctly. This is not a
malfunction.
An unknown picture is
displayed in the viewfinder.
• If 10 minutes elapse after you set the POWER switch to
CAMERA without inserting a cassette, the camcorder
automatically starts the demonstration or DEMO is set to
ON in the menu system.
Insert the cassette and the demonstration stops. You cai
