Preinstalled Roles And Services Configurations On Your System
Based on your organization requirements, server roles, role services, and features are preinstalled and configured on
your system.

Preinstalled roles and role services are:
File and Storage
Services
Manages file servers and storage.
File and iSCSI
Services
Manages file servers and storage, replicate and cache files, reduces disk space utilization, and
shares files using NFS protocol.
File Server
Manages shared folders and enables user to access files on the system from the network.
Data
Deduplication
Works at the volume level and stores mode data in less physical space. Data Deduplication
identifies duplicate data-chunks and maintains a single copy of each chunk. A redundant copy
replaces the reference to a single copy.
DFS Namespaces
Groups shared folders located on different servers into one or more logically structured
namespace.
DFS Replication
Synchronizes folders on multiple servers across Local or Wide Area Network (WAN)
connections.
File Server
Resource
Manager (FSRM)
Manages files and folders on a file server by scheduling tasks and storage reports, classifying
files, configuring quotas and defining file screening policies.
File Server VSS
Agent Service
Performs volume shadow copies of applications that store data files on file server.
iSCSI Target
Server
Provides services and management to iSCSI targets.
iSCSI Target
Storage Provider
