Adding and Replacing Parts
NOTICE:
To help prevent damage to the system board, you must remove the battery from the battery bay before
you begin working inside the computer.
1 Follow the procedures in "Before You Begin" on page 113.
2 Remove the hinge cover:
a
Open the display all the way (180 degrees) so that it lies flat against your work surface.
NOTICE:
To avoid damage to the hinge cover, do not lift the cover on both sides simultaneously.
b
Insert a plastic scribe into the indent to the right side of the hinge cover.
c
Ease the hinge cover up, moving from right to left, and remove it.
NOTE:
When you replace the hinge cover, first insert the left edge and then press down from left to right until the
cover snaps into place.

To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically
