Ground Drive Fertilizer Rate
One JohnBlue ground drive pump
customarily
supplies a Type 2 boom on the planter.
Equipment Damage Risk:
Contact wheel and chain system operate whenever the planter
is lowered and in motion. If planting without fertilizing, the
pump must not be allowed to run dry. Disconnect chain or
remove sprocket.
Refer to Figure 16 and Figure 17
Coarse rate is set by a single “driving” sprocket
on the
ground drive assembly. Fine rate is set on a dial (setting
hub)
at the pump, using a tool supplied with the pump.
Rate settings may be established in any of three ways:
• the table on the next page,
• the slide chart provided with the pump, or;
• a calculator on the JohnBlue internet web site

Check plumbing setup. See “Setting Relief Valve”
and “Strainer” in the Operator Manual.
2.
Determine Driving sprocket (15T or 47T) required
from table, slide chart or web calculator. If this
sprocket is already installed on driven shaft, skip to
step 7. Otherwise, to change sprocket, continue with
step 3.
3.
Remove knob
and guard
. Loosen idler
, and
remove chain
from lower jackshaft
.
4.
Select the new sprocket from the storage shaft
.
Remove the pins, and exchange sprockets. Store the
previous sprocket on the storage shaft.
5.
Remount the chain
. Re-engage idler
, tightening
so that the longest span of the chain has

⁄
4
in (6mm)
of slack.
6.
Remount guard
and secure with knob
.
7.
Using the box-wrench end of the JohnBlue
115681-01 tool, loosen the setting pointer nut
.
8.
Use the other end of the tool to rotate the dial
to
the setting determined by table, slide chart or web.
9.
Re-tighten pointer nut.
